JAMMU, Nov 24: Students and faculty members of Gender Development Committee organized an event to propagate and heighten awareness and implementation towards prevention of Breast Cancer here at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today.
Reckoning an imperative need to address and evince role of young and prospective doctors in this direction, the event teemed with academic and social brilliance. An introduction to the progress and future aspirations of Gender Development Committee was given by Lavanya at the inception.
Japleen Kour discussed the epidemiological aspects of Breast Cancer, Farheen Khalid emphasized upon the triple assessment as the cornerstone of detection and intervention whereas Shraddha Gupta brought attention towards pathological diagnostic strategies. Lavanya Gupta highlighted the surgical management of Breast Cancer while Rupamvir Singh shone light on specifics of radiotherapy and hormonal therapy.
The event was presided over by Principal and Dean, Dr Ashutosh Gupta who heaped praises on efforts of students while also recommending formulation of novel strategies to augment participation of students.
The event was attended by Dr Subhash Bhardawaj (HoD Pathology), Dr Kailash Thakur (Associate Professor, Surgery) and Dr Rakesh Bahl (Professor, Community Medicine) who shared their enlightening insights on the subject.
The event concluded on a hopeful and inspiring note with vote of thanks by Dr Jyotsna Suri (Professor, Pathology).
