JAMMU, Jan 21: Unveiling clandestine nexus between Bharatiya Janata Party and People’s Democratic Party, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Tuesday said that Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has been tasked by the saffron high command to use his manipulative tactics and assist in facilitating the victory of its candidates from two Parliamentary constituencies of the Jammu region.
“Impressed by his mastery in vitiating the atmosphere and dividing the people, the BJP top leadership is immensely banking upon Mufti Sayeed to create a situation wherein its candidates sail through in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections”, Mr Rana said while addressing workers meeting at Jindra in Nagrota Assembly Constituency this afternoon. He, however, maintained that despite this sinister arrangement between the two parties, BJP is poised to face defeat in both the seats, as people are wise enough to read between the lines.
Elaborating on tacit understanding between communal BJP and opportunistic PDP, the Provincial President said the later will field dummy candidates in a bid to cut the votes with a sinister agenda of ensuring the success of BJP candidates. The arrangement also entails to whip up passions in order to divide the people on communal lines. “But this will not work as the politically sagacious people understand the dynamics of politics, deceit and manipulation”, he asserted.
Mr Rana said in lieu of the support to BJP Parliamentary candidates, the PDP is eying on forming the Government after the general elections scheduled later this year with blessings of Narendra Modi. “To work out the details of this arrangement, Mufti Sayeed and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti have since opened the channels of dialogue with BJP High Command through a former Intelligence Bureau chief, a senior journalist and a lady associated with a Non-Governmental Organisation”, he said, adding several rounds of talks have taken place between the two sides in New Delhi, as a result of which Mufti Sayeed has activated his cadres in the Jammu region to concentrate on Parliamentary elections.
Mr Rana also referred to u-turn made by BJP President Rajnath Singh on Article 370, saying it is not for the love of Jammu and Kashmir people but the outcome of realisation that this proviso cannot be abrogated at all. He said the BJP had been using this Constitutional necessity to hoodwink the people of Jammu, in the mistaken belief of their being ignorant or politically novice.
The Provincial President warned BJP not to assume the role of self-styled guardians of the people of Jammu, saying their myopic policies have harmed the overall interests of the state. “National Conference has and will offer any sacrifice to safeguard the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he declared.
