Ex-servicemen issues raised at Akhnoor meeting

JAMMU, Nov 28: Ex-servicemen Welfare Association, Akhnoor Sub Division in a meeting held today projected the issues of the retired defence personnel.
The meeting in this regard was held under the chairmanship of Naval Veteran Lakhbir Singh Sohal. Many ex-servicemen of the area attended the meeting. President of the Association, Capt Santosh Kumar Sharma briefed the gathering about the agenda and asked suggestions from the ex-servicemen to improve the functioning of the association.
The speakers projected the issues with regard to disparity in pension, implementation of OROP-II, better facilities in ECHS, CSD, equality in MSP, disability pension, widow and reserve pension.
Chairman Lakhbir Singh said that he had meeting with Col RK Sharma regarding ECHS and other problems being faced by the ex-servicemen. It was informed that ECHS Polyclinic in Akhnoor has been upgraded. Specialist doctors will be made available there. The meeting opposed Agniveer scheme launched by Modi Government.
