Srinagar : Kashmir valley received heavy overnight snowfall forcing authorities to close Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for traffic.
Around 9 inches snow has accumulated in Srinagar, two feet in Gulmarg, six inches in Baramulla, one to two feet in South Kashmir, two feet in Pahalgam and arpund 2.6 feet in Jawahar Tunnel area.
It is heavily snowing Kashmir valley and authorities have started clearing snow from the main roads, however, majority of the roads are covered with the snow and the communication has been disrupted.
The Traffic Police closed the National Highway for traffic as over 2.6 feet snow has accumulated in Jawahar Tunnel area since last night and it was snowing heavily in that area.
The snow has led to breakdown of electricity and except few areas of Srinagar city majority of the Kashmir valley is without electricity since last night.
