Fodder Scam : Jagdish Sharma convicted with 18 others

RANCHI, Jan 22: A special CBI court today convicted altogether 19 people including former Janata Dal (United) MP Jagdish Sharma for their involvement in fodder scam case no (RC34A/96).

The court of special CBI judge Sitaram Prasad announced the judgement related to fraudulent withdrawl of more than Rs 1.16 crore from the Godda treasurey between August 3, 1992 to July 1995.

In its judgement the court announced three year prison terms for seven accused while the quantum of punishment for the remaining 12 including Mr Sharma will be announced on January 24.

In another fodder scam case (RC 20A/96) related to fraudulent withdrawl of Rs 37.70 crore from the Chaibasa treasury, a special CBI court of justice P K Singh had convicted Mr Sharma on September 30th alongwith two former Bihar Chief Ministers. He was sentenced on October 3 alongwith others but was later granted bail. (UNI)
