The DGP has rightly appealed to the public to maintain calm, cautioning against being misled by those attempting to foment trouble. The Kashmir valley has, regrettably, witnessed a recurrent pattern of incidents characterised by a cacophony of lies, misquoted statements, manipulated post-mortem reports, and rampant rumours, all of which have propelled the region to the brink of turmoil. It remains an incontrovertible reality that the ISI and its operatives perpetually seek any semblance of an issue, no matter how inconsequential, to exploit within the murky waters of discord. The insidious exploitation of these situations, resulting in cascading effects, has consistently plunged the Kashmir valley into a vortex of unrest.
Certain politicians, rather than assuming the role of peacemakers, have often found themselves opportunistically clinging to these tumultuous situations, issuing statements that further poison the already fraught atmosphere. The JKP, having borne the brunt of numerous such tumults in the past, possesses an intimate understanding of the ramifications. The DGP, in a commendable display of forthrightness, has asserted categorically that the cloak of freedom of expression shall not be wielded as a tool to propagate hatred. Students must comprehend that the digital platform serves as a conduit to broaden their intellectual horizons concerning academics, and they have no prerogative to indulge in commentary on religious matters. The denizens of these heterogeneous setups, being young and impressionable, must be adeptly guided by both parental figures and educational institutions to refrain from engaging in inflammatory social media content. The mantle of maintaining law and order firmly rests on the shoulders of the JKP, an entity eminently competent to grapple with such exigencies. The DGP’s stern warning to all elements seeking to exploit the situation resonates with a clarion call for accountability.
