Wife, her paramour arrested for killing Sopore man

SRINAGAR, Dec 3: Police cracked the Zaloora, Sopore murder case today after it was revealed that the victim was killed by his wife with active support from her paramour.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Shabir Nawab, stated that early on Friday morning, the wife of Reyaz Ahmad Mir, 48, of Zaloora village-Shaista-filed a missing complaint at the Bomai police station, stating that her husband had gone missing.
In her complaint, she stated: “During the intervening night of November 30 and December 1, her husband had gone outside his house and did not return.”
Following the filing of the complaint, SSP Nawab mentioned that a police party, led by SHO PS Bomai, initiated a search, and during that, the body was discovered under mysterious circumstances near the house.
“The body was recovered from a sewage trench, which was covered with a lid. Subsequently, the body was taken to the Sub District Hospital Sopore for the completion of necessary formalities,” SSP Nawab explained.

After the body’s recovery, it was reported that a case (FIR No 46/2023) was registered, and further investigation was initiated under the supervision of SDPO Zaingeer.
“As the investigation progressed, it was revealed that the victim’s wife was involved in an extramarital affair with a man from Tujjar. He planned the murder and has confessed to the crime,” stated the police.
During the investigation, several suspects, including the deceased’s wife, were brought in for questioning.
“Shaista confessed that she, along with her boyfriend, namely Waseem Akram Lone, son of Farooq Ahmad Lone, resident of Tujjar, killed her husband during the night and concealed his dead body in the trench,” the police disclosed.
The police further informed that the accused, Waseem Akram Lone, as well as the wife of the victim have been arrested in connection with the case.
“Both have been shifted to the police station, where they remain in custody. Moreover, the equipment used in the commission of the crime was successfully recovered. Further investigation is ongoing,” the police concluded.
