Kot Bhalwal Jail drug supply module worked out

JAMMU, Dec 4: Police in Jammu’s Akhnoor area claimed today that they have solved the sensational drug supply module in the Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.
A police spokesperson said that on November 22, 2023, information was received at Police Station Gharota that a cricket ball was found in the premises of Central Jail Kot Bhalwal during routine searchers of the premises.
He said when the ball was opened, heroin-like wrapped capsules and a pen drive was found inside the ball.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 92/2023 Under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and section 42 of the Prison Act was registered and investigation taken up.
On November 28, 2023, another information regarding recovery of another cricket ball was received with recovery of heroin-like-substance on opening of the ball. Accordingly, another case FIR number 97/2023 Under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and section 42 of the Prisons Act was registered at Police Station Gharota and investigation taken up.
Sensing the gravity of the situation and frequency of the incidents in a sensitive location, a special team headed by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma, assisted by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, and SHO Ghartoa Inspector Joginder Singh, was constituted by SP Rural, Rahul Charak.
Followed by this, the special team collected all the technical data, conducted survey of jail inmates and with the help of other human intelligence, finally rounded up three suspected persons from different places, who, during questioning, confessed to their involvement in the crime.
They were identified as Rahul Kumar of Makhanpur, Bishnah, Rahul Kumar of Kothi Khour, Miran Sahib, and Arjun Kumar of Kulliyan, RS Pura.
Police claimed to have recovered two sharp-edged weapons from the accused and a vehicle driven by them has also been seized
Further investigation into the case is underway.
