JAMMU, Dec 5: Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) of Senior Citizens Support Services Club, Chowadi was held here today under the chairmanship of Dr. Kasturi Lal, Club chairman.
Proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Club general secretary, Major General S.K Sharma (retired) who talked about activities the Club performed last year.
He said, to promote Dogri language, the Club organized events like Dogri Kavi Ghoshthi, Dogri play, interactive session with prominent personalities in Dogri literature etc.
“A delegation of the Club met Manoj Sinha, J&K LG and proposed for making Dogri language compulsory in primary classes of Jammu region schools,” the general secretary maintained urging the Dogra community to speak in Dogri at home and ask children to opt Dogri as an optional subject.
He further said that another activity was a rally by school students and a seminar wherein professors from various universities participated.
“The Club also organised a function on World Yoga Day in collaboration with Model Institute of Engineering and Technology besides organising a function to laud senior citizens’ role for social cause,” he continued.
He informed that the Club has made a plan for next year with first activity on January 14 to celebrate Lohri in traditional manner.
S.K Jain, N.K Khajuria, Anju Bansal, Lt. Col. Dharam Vir Sharma, Abhinandan Jain and Vijay showcased their performances.
At the end, play ‘Ek Dhoop Safed Si’ by Rajneesh K Gupta and Santosh Sangra mesmerized the audience as it elaborated the condition of parents whose children settle abroad and don’t care for their parents.

The meeting ended with vote of thanks by H.C Vaid, finance secretary.
