Theft case solved, valuables worth lakhs recovered

POONCH, Dec 6: With the arrest of two burglars and recovery of valuables worth lakhs, the police claimed to have solved a theft case in Poonch area.
A police spokesman said that on December 4, 2023, a written complaint was lodged at police Station Poonch by one Satish Kumar, son of Jagan Nath, resident of Mohalla Khori Nar, Poonch stating that he along with his wife had gone on duty as both husband and wife are govt teachers. He further stated that they left their house at 0930 hrs and reached back at 1630 hrs. When he reached home, he saw doors of his house broken. Some unknown thieves had decamped with valuables amounting to Rs 4.5 lakhs along with cash amounting to Rs 20,000.
On this, a case FIR No. 210/2023, U/S 454/380 IPC was immediately registered and investigation launched. A police team headed by Insp Deepak Pathania, SHO Poonch was constituted by Afrat Hussain DySP Hqrs, Poonch.
After generating human as well as technical intelligence, several suspects were rounded up for questioning and later two were placed under sustained interrogation on suspicion. During sustained questioning it came to fore that these two suspects namely- Rashid Chak, son of Abdul Hamid from village Jallian Tehsil Mandi at present Sukha Kattha, Poonch and Saddam Hussain, son of Gulzar Hussain from Sathra in Mandi broke down and confessed their involvement in the crime.
On their disclosure, all the gold items were recovered from different places from both the accused whereas some clothes/shoes purchased by accused from the stolen cash too, have been recovered and seized in the instant case.
