JAMMU, Dec 6: The dengue fever has claimed one more life whereas 15 fresh cases of the vector-borne disease were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of positive cases so far this year to 6345 and the number of deaths to 10.
The latest death has been reported from Talab Tillo area of Jammu. The deceased, a 92-year-old man was admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu on November 25 after he was found positive for dengue. He passed away at about 1 am today in the Hospital,” a Health official said, adding, with this, the number of deaths due to the vector-borne disease so far this year has reached to 10.
The official further informed that 271 people were screened today for dengue out of which 15 turned out to be positive. Of the 15 positive cases, 7 cases were reported from Jammu district while 4 cases were reported from Doda, 3 from Kathua and 1 from Udhampur district. The positive patients include 12 adults and 3 children, he added.
He said maximum 4006 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 960 cases, Kathua 599 cases and Samba 354 cases. “There were 100 cases in Rajouri, 76 in Doda, 69 in Reasi, 63 in Ramban, 38 in Poonch, 10 in Kishtwar, 30 in Kashmir and 40 from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 2050 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 1948 have been discharged and 16 patients are still under treatment.
