5 Kargil residents killed in Zojila Pass mishap

Srinagar, Dec 7: Five local residents of Kargil area were killed after a Xylo vehicle, in which they were travelling, rolled down into a deep gorge on Zojila Pass in Ganderbal district today.
An official said that a Xylo vehicle bearing registration number JK07-0876 which was on way to Sonamarg from Kargil skidded-off the road and fell into a gorge on Zojila Pass, in which five residents of Kargil died.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Hadi Balti, Mohammad Amin Balti, Shabir Hussain, Mohammad Hussain and Mohammad Akbar—all residents of Kargil.
This is the second such incident in the last four days as four tourists from Kerala and a local driver died at the same spot after their vehicle fell into a deep gorge at Zojila Pass on Tuesday.
One person died while two others were injured after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off road in Rupwan area of Charari-e-Sharief in Budgam district today.
An official said that the driver of the vehicle lost control of his car and skidded off the road. He said that in the incident one person died on the spot while two were injured. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Kabir Hajam of Pulwama.
A driver died after a tractor trolley overturned and fell on him in Bonibagh village in Ganderbal district today.
An official said the driver identified as Tawseef Ahmed son of Nisar Ahmad Lone of Bonibagh was injured after a tractor trolley overturned on him. He said that soon after the incident Tawseef was immediately taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family for last rites.
