JAMMU, Dec 9: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit has claimed that the government is indifferent towards the demands of rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus and PoJK displaced persons.
In a press conference here today J&K Shiv Sena president, Manish Sahni said that Minority Commission has not been formed in J&K so far though population of Hindus in J&K is 28 per cent and that of Sikhs is 2 per cent.
“Despite being a Union Territory, minority Hindus and Sikhs are not given their rights,” he maintained adding: “Safe return of Kashmiri Hindus, who have been living a displaced life for the last 35 years, should be ensured and the demand of PoJK displaced people should also be looked into.”
Sahni urged the Modi government to set up a Minority Commission in J&K with immediate effect and provide status and benefits to Hindus and Sikhs as are available to minorities.
He also demanded that 10 seats out of 24 reserved for PoJK should be de-freezed in favour of PoJK refugees.
Sahni said that a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been submitted during the meeting with Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo regarding these demands.
Rakesh Gupta, G.I Singh, Sanjeev Kohli and Raj Singh were also present in the press conference.
