‘Make holy town garbage, dustbin free’

Reasi, Dec 12: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Mahajan convened a meeting to review the functioning of the Municipal Council Reasi and Municipal Committee Katra.
The meeting evaluated the operational efficiency and performance of the Municipal Bodies Reasi and Katra . Executive Officer, Municipal Council,Reasi and Committee Katra encompassed a detailed analysis of ongoing projects, administrative processes, town profile, beautification works and other key initiatives undertaken by the Municipal Bodies .
The DC gave necessary instructions on enhancing civic amenities, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring streamlined governance for the benefit of the Reasi and Katra community. After taking a detailed review of major projects at the town level, the DC fixed the timelines for completion of vital projects.
During the meeting, various unit heads presented progress reports, highlighted achievements, challenges and future plans within their respective domains.
To ensure a cleaner environment for residents, DC directed the Executive Officer (EO) of Municipality Reasi to relocate the current garbage dumping ground situated at the bus stand to an alternate location. He directed EOs to make dedicated cleaning teams for each ward within the towns for neat and clean wards.
While taking the review of MC Katra, DDC highlighted the imperative to elevate the cleanliness standards in Katra town by suggesting the implementation of installation of underground dustbins. Emphasizing the importance of this proposal, DDC articulated that the primary objective is to envision a Katra town completely free from garbage and dustbins.
DDC said that modern technology structures installed for the beautification of Katra, public toilets and urinals be made neat and clean and movement towards no single use plastic in Katra town should be the endeavour.
He asked the Executive Officer (EO) of Municipal Katra to chart a plan aimed at revolutionizing the Katra street lighting system. The proposal is to focus on the installation of solar panels to power street lights, marking a significant step toward sustainable and eco-friendly infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, CPO and Xen RandB Katra in addition to the EOs of both the Municipal Bodies.
