JAMMU, Dec 12: “YUVTARANG” – the cultural and literary fest by The Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, was inaugurated at Govt SPMR College of Commerce, here today.
Cluster University Jammu Vice Chancellor, Prof Bechan Lal presided over the function whereas Padma Shree Balwant Thakur, Director Natrang, was the chief guest.
Prof Bechan Lal, in his address, emphasised the role of extra-curricular activities in holistic development of the students.
Balwant Thakur offered his assistance to the University for the promotion of Fine Arts.
Dr Ranvijay Singh, Dean Student Welfare, informed that this annual student fest will consist more than 25 literary and cultural events. Dr Kuldeep Raina “Swadeshi”, Cultural Coordinator, briefed the audience about the significance of YUVTARANG.
A Mehandi competition and a Clay Modelling competition were organized as part of the first day of YUVTARANG 2023. In the Mehandi competition, first position was bagged by Enamika Sharma from GCW Gandhi Nagar, whereas the second and the third positions went to Palkin from MAM College and Komal from GCOE respectively. In the Clay Modelling competition, the first position went to Shivani Sharma from GCOE while the second and third positions went to Mohd Zaigham Salaria from GGM Science College and Manshi Verma from School of Sciences respectively.
Prof Nidhi Kotwal, Principal GDC, Basohli, Dr Amareet Singh, IMFA and Prof Samridhi Arora, Department of Home Science, JU were the adjudicators for Clay Modelling and Mehandi Competition.
The program was attended by Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar; Deans of Cluster University, Principals of the constituent Colleges, Financial Advisor, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Cultural Coordinator, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, Cultural Conveners, Student Cultural Council, faculty members and students.
The event was compeered by Prof Sugandha Mahajan whereas Prof Ashu Manhas presented vote of thanks. Under the supervision of Dr Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college, the entire programme was coordinated and managed by Dr Sandhya Bhardwaj, Dr Chetna Gupta, Prof Deepshikha Sharma, Prof Shaji Khan, Dr Jagmeet Kour, Dr Fayza, Dr Roomi Rani, Dr Deepak Pathania and Dr Neeru.
