JAMMU, Dec 13: Maintaining that Supreme Court judgment holding the abrogation of Article 370 as Constitutionally valid and proper, Panun Kashmir (PK) an organization of displaced Pandits said that the SC verdict has finally set to rest all the apprehensions and speculations in this regard.
“It has made it unanimous to everyone that the Constitution of India applies to Jammu and Kashmir fully, in letter and spirit’’ PK chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here, today.
Dr Chrungoo who was flanked by PK general secretary, Kuldeep Raina, senior leaders, Pran Koul, P L Koul Budgami, Raj Nath Raina, Satish Sher and M K Dhar said the judgment has debunked the concept of internal sovereignty of J&K and validated the Constitutional powers of President of India to abrogate Article 370, extended all provisions of Constitution of India to J&K as well as reorganized Jammu and Kashmir State into two UTs.
He, while welcoming the judgment said it has brought immense joy and happiness to all.
The PK chairman said that his organization has always opposed 370 and 35 A and were demanding its revocation as it had created a Muslim State within territory of India and the SC decision upholding the removal of Article 370 has dismantled for good the de jure edifice of Muslim State.
He demanded that the Government should now take effective steps in dismantling the de facto internal body of this Muslim State as well as subversive machinations which is still alive in the Valley.
Dr Chrungoo said the judgment of Justice S K Koul which forms the part of wider SC verdict has underlined that “There was a mass exodus of KPs threatened for their life and property and changing the very cultural ethos of Kashmir and there was a trouble situation on the ground level which was apparently not redressed,. It culminated in the migration of one part of the population of the State in 1989-90 which was not voluntary’’. These comments should suffice to persuade GoI not to call religious cleansing of KPs as migration and decisively move to recognize the genocide inflicted on them, PK leader said.
He said in case of KPs Government as well as other Constitutional bodies chose to ignore when gruesome crimes against humanity were committed against them.
“Recently scores of Hindus in Valley were selectively targeted and killed forcing the remnants of the few thousand Hindus living in Valley to flee again and these developments were ignored by the powers that be including Constitutional bodies’’, he added.
The PK leader while turning down the reconciliation process strongly advocated for further reorganization of J&K with carving out of a separate homeland for Pandits in Valley with UT status which is the only solution to the problem.
