Boy electrocuted due to negligence of PDD

UDHAMPUR, Dec 13: Sheer negligence of Power Development Department claimed life of a 13-year old boy who was electrocuted after he came in contact with an electric wire tied between green trees at Bali Panchayat, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur, here today.
The victim was cutting leaves off the tree for using the same as fodder to the domestic animals when he came in contact with the live wire and got electrocuted.
Even as some locals rushed him to District Hospital Udhampur, doctors declared him as brought dead. The deceased was identified as Mohd Majeed alias Altaf (13), son of Liaquat Ali, resident of Khairi Udhampur.
Agitated over electrocution of the boy, local of Bali protested against the PDD authorities and said that several such incidents of electric shock have taken place due to negligence of the department, which has tied electric wire between the trees instead of using poles. They also demanded registration of FIR against the PDD.
However, Police registered the case under Section 174 and handed over the dead body to family members of the deceased after completion of postmortem.
