Ladakh Admn constitutes SAC

JAMMU, Dec 14: The Union Territory Administration in Ladakh has accorded sanction for the constitution of State Advisory Council (SAC) to plan and implement capacity building programmes for urban development and governance for UT of Ladakh through Centre for Urban Studies, established by MoHUA.
As per an order issued in this context, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, UT of Ladakh shall be the chairman of the committee and a Government of India representative, chairman/convenor, CUS, IIPA, New Delhi, representative from Public Health Engineering Department, UT of Ladakh not below the rank of Deputy Secretary, representative from Transport Department, UT of Ladakh, not below the rank of Deputy Secretary, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Leh, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Kargil, senior member/faculty of the CUS, IIPA, Architect Assistant, Town Planning Section, DULB, shall be the members of the committee while as Director, Urban Local Bodies, UT of Ladakh, shall be the Member Secretary of the panel.
The order further said that the UT Level Advisory Council would design the various Capacity Building activities in consultation with the MoUD to strengthen implementation of policies and programmes of the MoUD and to meet specific requirement of the State.
The State Advisory Council shall identify area of excellence that a CUS may wish to build on in medium and long term, the order said, adding that it (SAC) will identify areas where research on urban problems and municipal administration can be undertaken in the UT.
The council will meet in the third quarter of the financial year and finalise the annual action plan in respect of State for the ensuing financial year and also hold periodic of the prominence and participation in respect of the various training programme, ordered the UT Admin of Ladakh.
