POONCH, Dec 15: J&K Police has attached a residential house, JCB and Tractor under section 68-F of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act- 1985 in Degwar, Terwan area near LoC in Poonch district today.
SSP Poonch Vinay Sharma while addressing press conference said that residential house belongs to the Shakar Din, son of Noor Din, resident of Degwar Terwan in Tehsil Haveli in Poonch constructed on land bearing khasra number 400 was attached in a case FIR number 42/2023 Under Sections 8/21/22/25/27A/29/60 NDPS Act while JCB 3DX bearing registration number JK12B-6168 and Mahindra Tractor bearing registration number JK12C 4438, belonging to Mohd Yaseen, son of Saif Din, resident of Degwar Terwan have been attached vide FIR number 77/2023 Under Sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act, 13/18 UAPA Act, 4/5 Explosives Act.
Pertinent to mention that the residential house and JCB, Tractor were attached by the J&K Police in the presence of Executive Magistrates i.e Tehsildar Haveli Anjum Bashir Khatak along with Naib Tehsildar Haveli Maroof Khan.
Senior Superintendent of Police further said that we have started to freeze the properties of drug dealers/peddlers and doing such action first time in Poonch we have attached one residential house, JCB and tractor worth Rs 87.86 lakh in Degwar- Terwan area of Poonch, while we have attached double storey residential house and two personnel vehicles ALto and Tata Mobile in Surankote few days back in the similar case.
He said we have identified more properties in such cases and action will be continued against drug peddlers and dealers, Poonch police have registered 47 FIRs in NDPS act, 83 persons have been arrested and 87 kgs heroin was recovered in this year.
“So far the seizure of properties is concerned we noticed that arresting drug peddlers or dealers is not enough. So, we started to attach their properties for which they indulge in such work. We recovered 24 kgs of heroin and 15 lakh cash from the two property owners against whom action has been taken today, while it is similar in the case of mendhar in which big drug dealers were involved which is also the response to all the question marks that actual mafias abstain from the clamp of Police” he added.
