JAMMU, Dec 15: The Law School at the University of Jammu today organised a daylong orientation programme on Human Rights (HRs), featuring various activities.
The event commenced with a Human Rights awareness quiz comprising three rounds, inaugurated by Prof (Dr) Manju Jamwal. The quiz, supervised by faculty and external observers, including alumni Advocate Nitin Parihar and Advocate Sumit Moza, saw participation from ten teams.
Advocate Nitin Parihar and Sumit Moza engaged with students, emphasizing the benefits of a human rights-based approach in litigation and advocacy.
Dr Shruti Bist, Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India, delivered an interactive guest lecture on Human Rights principles in the Digital era. She highlighted the importance of applying human rights concepts to protect rights in the digital landscape.
A Q&A session followed, addressing student queries on cybercrimes, litigation, human rights redressal agencies, internships, and legal developments.
Dr Monica Narang stressed the practical application of human rights and urged recognition of their universality. A human rights pledge was taken by teachers and students, emphasizing the interconnectedness of rights.
Dr Nitan Sharma coordinated the events, and the program concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winning team.
Dr Seema Rohmetra delivered the formal vote of thanks, marking the successful culmination of the initiative. Advocate Sidharth Jamwal along with others marked their presence in the event.
