JAMMU, Dec 16: Police today recovered 13 mortar shells and 195 rounds of Light Machine Gun (LMG) from Millen Di Khui in Samwan area of Pallanwalla near Akhnoor and destroyed them.
During digging work for construction of road, the workers spotted shells and informed police.
Police teams from Akhnoor led by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mohan Sharma reached the spot and intensified digging work cautiously.
A total of 13 mortar shells and 195 rounds of LMG were recovered which were destroyed.
Police believed that the shells and rounds are likely to be part of 1971 Indo-Pak war.
