UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: In separate cases, Udhampur Police arrested two persons and recovered narcotics from their possession.
During routine checking at Jakhani National Highway, a Police team from Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghubir Choudhary, recovered 31.4 Kg poppy straw like substance from a truck bearing Registration number JK02AK-8565.
Police also arrested the truck driver, who has been identified as Jeevan Raj, son of Parkash Nath of Kallar, Udhampur.
In this connection, a case FIR number 644/2023 Under Sections 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Udhampur and the investigation is going on to unearth the backward and forward linkages.
In another case, the Police team of PS Udhampur, while patrolling at Circular Road near Main Bazar Udhampur, noticed the movement of one suspicious person namely Imran Ayub alias Mini, son of Mohd Ayoob of Shankar Nagar, Udhampur. During frisking, 3.24 grams of heroin like contraband substance was recovered from his possession following which the accused was arrested on the spot.
On this, a case vide FIR number 642/2023 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act has been registered in P/S Udhampur and further investigation was set into motion.
