JKP seized 1378 vehicles for illegal mining in Jammu District in 2023: SSP Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized 1378 vehicles for their involvement in illegal mining in Jammu District in the current year. This was stated by SSP Jammu, Dr. Vinod Kumar.
“Police in Jammu District have taken decisive action against illegal mining activities, resulting in the seizure of 1378 vehicles in Jammu District this year,” said the SSP Jammu.
Furthermore, he said, the process for the cancellation of the registration of the vehicles involved in illegal mining activities has been initiated with the concerned department.
“The seized vehicles were found to be actively involved in illegal mining operations, disregarding environmental regulations and posing a significant threat to the local ecosystem,” he said.
The police officer said that the exploitation of natural resources through illegal mining will not be tolerated.
“Our actions aim at curbing illicit activities and deterring individuals from engaging in practices that harm the environment and jeopardize public safety,” he added.
The police officer further said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been working diligently to investigate and curtail such illicit operations.
He said that vehicle owners and operators implicated in illegal mining activities will face the cancellation of the registration of their vehicles.
“Swift and stringent measures are being undertaken to ensure that the vehicles involved in illegal mining are promptly removed from circulation, reinforcing the commitment to preserving the environment and upholding legal norms,” said the SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar.
