VIPM convention begins at SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 18: A two- day 4th annual convention of Veterinary Internal and Prevention Medicine Society (VIPM- 2023) and national symposium on “Advancing Veterinary Medicine for Holistic Development of Animal Health and Productivity with a One Health Approach” began today at SKUAST-Jammu.
The conference is being organized by the Division of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu.
Prof B N Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu was chief guest of the inaugural program. In his address, he said that in this interconnected world where humans, animals, and the environment coexist, the health and well-being of all living beings are intrinsically linked.
“By embracing a holistic One Health approach, we can collectively advance veterinary medicine, ultimately promoting the health and productivity of animals, humans, and the environment for generations to come,” he said and stressed that the objective of the society should include new innovative methods for diagnostic approaches.
Dr M C Sharma, former Director-cum-Vice-Chancellor, IVRI, Bareilly, UP, was the guest of honor and he emphasized that this annual convention of Veterinary Internal and Preventive Medicine Society and National Symposium will serve as a national platform for meeting academicians, scientists, researchers, industrialists and field veterinarians around the country, widening professional contacts, and creating new collaborations.
Dr A U Bhikane, founder President of VIPM, mentioned that around 230 delegates from 15 different States of India have registered for this conference.
At the outset, Dr Neelesh Sharma, Organizing Secretary VIPM-2023, presented welcome address while Dr Rajesh Katoch, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu gave a brief introduction about the conference and the host institute.
Dr Ashok Kumar, General Secretary, highlighted activities of VIPM.
During the inaugural session, conference compendium and newsletter were released by the guests and Lifetime achievement awards were given to eminent Veterinary Medicine professionals namely Dr N A Sudhan, Ex- Director Research, SKUAST Jammu; Dr H U Malik, Retired Prof & Head SKUAST Kashmir; Dr Bhoop Singh, UNDP Consultant & Ret Professor, LUVAS Hisar.
Proceedings of the inaugural program were conducted by Dr Ankur Sharma while vote of thanks was presented by Dr Neelesh Sharma.
