JAMMU, Dec 18: Jammu & Kashmir Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI) has brought laureates to the JK UT by getting appreciable recognition at national level in the Association of Surgeons of India which is the largest surgical body in Asia-Pacific and second largest in the world.
In recently concluded International conference of the Association at Vishakapatnam from Dec 12 to 16, Chairman of the Chapter, Prof Sanjay Kumar Bhasin received “Outstanding Member of the Association for the Year 2023 Award” alongside other founding members of JAKASI namely Prof Nisar Chowdri (founder Chairman), Prof N C Digra, Prof Tariq Azad, Dr Zaffer Saleem Khnaday & Prof Fazl Parray.
Dr Bhasin also delivered guest lecture on, “Chest Injury; the Fear!!!” and chaired sessions on Artificial Intelligence in Surgery, Simulators in Surgery & Robotics in Surgery: When & Where?
Dr Tahir (SKIMS-MC) under mentorship of Prof Ajaz Rather, topped the All India “TYSA Awards” category and shall be sent to foreign country by the ASI for specialized course.
Similarly, Dr Varun Mahajan, mentored by Prof Sanjay Bhasin from GMC Jammu and Dr Ahlam from DH Kulgam, bagged first prizes at national level in epaper categories. Other prominent surgeons who participated in the ASICON, were Prof N C Digra (former HoD & PMC Jammu), Prof Ajaz Malik (HoD Surgery, SKIMS), Prof Ajaz Rather (HoD Surgery SKIMS-MC), Dr Ravinder Kumar (Asso Prof GMC Kathua), Dr Munir Wani, Dr Rajinder Nagar, Dr Vijay Kumar, Dr Amarjeet Singh, and others.
