JAMMU, Dec 18: In a collaborative effort with the Central Finger Print Bureau, NCRB, New Delhi, Crime Branch, J&K initiated a 5-day workshop for enrolment users of National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) at the IT Centre, PHQ Gulshan Ground Jammu.
The Chief Guest, Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police (Headquarters/CIV) PHQ/Traffic J&K, inaugurated the program.
The workshop, attended by 51 officers/officials from Jammu Zone, aimed to equip police officers with the skills to maximize the potential of NAFIS in J&K.
Addressing the inaugural session, Bhim Sen Tuti emphasized the importance of leveraging NAFIS for investigation purposes and highlighted the significance of the NAFIS repository in identifying and investigating criminal matters while preserving crucial records.
Javid Iqbal Matoo, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Crime Branch J&K, provided a comprehensive overview of NAFIS, emphasizing its role in creating a national searchable repository of criminal fingerprints through digitization, storage, and processing of fingerprints from all states/UTs.
Other notable attendees during the inaugural session included JS Johar, Assistant Inspector General Training/Policy PHQ J&K; Zaheer Abass, Deputy Superintendent CRB J&K; Varun Jandyal, Deputy Superintendent Training PHQ J&K; and Jagpal Sharma, Deputy Superintendent (FP Expert) in-charge NAFIS CRB J&K.
