JAMMU, Dec 18: A delegation of shelling-affected people from Trewa Village in Bishnah Tehsil today met with Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, outlining their grievances.
Led by Sarpanch Balbir Kaur, the locals highlighted that during ceasefire violations, shells damage electric wires in their village, particularly affecting newly introduced cables that are challenging to repair.
They urged the laying of cables underground to minimize risks to power utilities. Furthermore, they requested reduced power charges in un-metered areas, considering the economic conditions of those living near the border.
Sarpanch Kaur also sought the upgrade of the Primary Health Care Centre established in 1950 and proposed the establishment of a degree college in the area.
Additionally, she requested the recruitment of border youth into military and paramilitary forces.
Balbir Kaur mentioned that the Chief Secretary attentively listened to their demands and assured them of addressing these issues promptly.
