RAJOURI, Dec 19: A strong protest was held in Plangar area of Thannamandi against Dharam Raj Construction Company for not starting blacktopping work on road in Plangar area.
The protest was led by Mohd Shabir Sarpanch Plangar, The villagers raised slogans against BRO and DRCC. The protest lasted for about two hours and the people blocked Rajouri- Thannamandi road during this period.
The locals told that about one kilometer road has not been black-topped in Planghar due to unknown reasons from last one year. They said due to dust their shops as well as their houses are in ugly conditions and they have to face certain other health problems due to dust. They added that most of the road is black topped then why this patch has been left out from last one year.
They told that there are two schools in the area and students are worst sufferers. One Abdul Qayoom said that the work of road has not been done as per norms and BRO remains mum and seen compromised as the work done isn’t upto the mark. He alleged that Dharam Raj company alongwith BRO made it accident prone road as due to opening of Mughal road there will be huge traffic flow on the road.
The locals also demanded that the quality of work must be checked at all the location and fine must be imposed on the company for delaying the work on the road from Rajouri to Surankote.
SDM Thannamandi, Shafiq Ahmed Mir alongwith Tehsildar Thannamandi Sahil Ali Shah and SDPO Thannamandi, Khaliq Choudhary reached the spot and assured the protesting people that the macadamization work will start on Saturday, and then the people lifted protest dharna from the road.
