Govt least bothered to mitigate border people’s problems: Rattan

JAMMU, Dec 20: Senior National Conference leader and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra while accusing the Lt Governor led Administration of not mitigating the problems of border dwellers has asserted that the incumbent Union Territory Administration has proved a total failure on all fronts.
He expressed this while addressing a party workers’ meeting at village Kotli Mian Fateh in Miran Sahib area in Jammu South (RS Pura) Constituency today.
The meeting was organized by its Block president Balvinder Singh. During the meeting Naresh Bittu, District president Jammu Rural B apprised the senior functionaries about the hardships being faced by border dwellers.
Sadhotra said the incumbent UT Administration has been totally ignoring the people living in border areas. He said that it has failed to raise Border battalion as promised and the result is that drug abuse continues to be on the rise due to unemployment among youth of these areas. The border people are facing acute irrigation problems due to non availability of power and water supply. He added that the farmers having fields at the tail end are the worst sufferers in this regard due to non availability of water in their fields. The condition of roads in these areas is highly deplorable, while as healthcare is also not good.
Rattan Lal Gupta said that while border dwellers are the worst victims of the mis-governance by the UT Administration, the people on the whole across J&K are shrouded in miseries thrust upon them by the UT administration being the proxy Govt of BJP. He said that the incumbent Government has turned blind eye towards the problems being faced by the youth residing in border areas. He said that there are thousands of Govt posts lying vacant today in various departments which need to be filled on fast track basis.
NC leader said that despite raising people’s issues including those of the border dwellers before the concerned authorities from time to time but no steps have been taken by the present Government in this regard.
Senior leaders present on the occasion include, Pardeep Bali, Bimla Luthra ex-MLA, Abdul Gani Teli, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, Raghvir Singh Manhas District president Jammu Rural, Rakesh Singh Raka, KK Sharma and Pinky Khalsa.
