Install smock guns, water cannons to check dust pollution: SS

KISHTWAR, Dec 20: Shiv Sena (Shinde) has expressed concern over growing pollution in various areas of Kishtwar district due to installation of unprecedented number of stone crushers creating dust and fume as well as stripping of earthwork on the Rattle Hydel Project on the right and left banks of river Chenab, the retention of muck is not being managed which also causes a lot of dust emission due to vertical fall out of the muck.
In a statement issued here, today the zonal president of SS, Tilak Raj Shan showed his grave concern over the hazards of environment created in many villages of the district due to opening of stone crushers near human habitations for supplying stone aggregate to power project and hazards disposal of muck by the Project management.
He made an appeal to Pollution Control Board authorities to take the cognizance of the same to make it binding on the project management to maintain the latest standards of preserving ecology in the area and rid the people of health hazards.
He said the PCB authorities should impress upon the management of the power project to install anti smog guns, water cannons and latest technology to save people of surrounding areas of environmental pollution and dust related diseases.
He said presently people of various villages are suffering from respiratory diseases like Asthma, Bronchitis and allergies which is matter of grave concern.
