UDHAMPUR, Dec 21: BJP spokesperson and former MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania today lambasted the Congress, NC, PDP and other political parties, which had been again and again raising the voice for disbanding of VDCs within as well as outside the Assembly.
He was all praise for the landmark steps which have been taken by these VDCs in J&K for freeing it from the clutches of militancy and said that consistent financial support to Village Defense Committees (VDCs) in Jammu and Kashmir have significantly bolstered the security network.
Pathania said this while addressing an impressive felicitation rally at a far flung pocket of Dudu, in Udhampur, which was organized by Village Defence Groups (VDGs) of district Udhampur in collaboration with the local unit of BJP.
“This initiative of VDCs has not only fortified the existing security grid but also provided a renewed sense of purpose to the entire security apparatus. Members of the VDCs have experienced tangible benefits, fostering a positive atmosphere and goodwill toward the Modi Sarkar in the region,” said Pathania, adding that those demanding disbanding of VDCs have been doing it to please their masters across the border.
The former MLA was also apprehensive of the conduct of some officers of the police who had tried to create a stalemate between the VDC and SPOs.
Basant Raj, Convenor of VDC Cell of BJP, lambasted JKNPP for shedding crocodile tears on the issue time and again.
On the occasion, demands such as giving remuneration to unpaid VDGs of Udhampur, constitution of more VDGs and giving weapons to family members of those VDG members who cross 60 years of age, were also raised.
Amongst others, who addressed the gathering, included Pinky Devi, DDC Latti-Marothi; Hans Raj Thakur, President, Basuki Naag Sangathan; Prof Sunil Bhardwaj, I/c Study Cell of BJYM; Krishan Lal, Girdhari Lal, Beant Gupta, Krishan Singh, Makhan Manhas, (all Sarpanches), Mohd Sharif, Sudesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Uttam Chand, Naresh Lalhal, Ashok Malkan, Dilip Singh, Sonu and others.
