SKUAST-J, Indonesian Prof join webinar on horticulture

Jammu, Dec 22: The Vice Rector of IPB Bogor Agriculture University, Professor Iskadar Z. Siregar, inaugurated a webinar on horticulture, emphasizing the pivotal role that horticulture research and production play in Indonesia’s economy. Notably, Prof. Siregar expressed a keen interest in fostering collaboration with Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu), recognizing the potential for joint horticulture research endeavors.
It marked a significant step forward in strengthening ties between the academic and research communities of India and Indonesia. Prof. B.N. Triphathi, Vice-Chancellor in his address, underscored the critical importance of horticulture in ensuring food security and contributing to the economic prosperity of both nations. He highlighted the institution’s commitment to agricultural education, research, and extension and shared the institution’s achievements in livestock health, value-added product development, and its diverse range of academic programs.
Prof. Parshant Bakshi, Head, Fruit Science, SKUAST-J who completed his international exposure visit funded by NAHEP IDP SKUAST-J at IPB University, Indonesia played a pivotal role in initiating the collaboration and proposing the webinar.
The event featured distinguished speakers from both countries, including Dr. Parshant Bakshi, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Dr. Kiran Kour, Dr. Tanjet Singh Chahal from India, and Prof. Awang Maharijaya, Prof. Dodik R. Nurrochmat, Prof. Darda Efendi, and Dr. Syarifah Iis Asyah from Indonesia. Prof. Vikas Tandon, Dean Horticulture and Forestry, SKUAST-Jammu and Prof. Suryo, Dean, Agriculture IPB University, Indonesia gave their closing remarks.
