11 dumpers seized for illegal mining

KATHUA, Dec 22: A team of the Mining Department headed by District Mineral Officer, Rajinder Singh seized 11 vehicles for transporting minerals in violation of mining regulations here today.
Continuing with massive operations going on for the last one month, Mining Department has turned tuff towards mining mafia and violators who deal with illegal business of mining material.
The action has been initiated on the direction of Director Geology and Mining, Rakesh Magotra who closely monitors all the operations carried out at district level. As Head of Department, he has taken several robust steps to regulate mining activities, a handout issued by the Department said.
It was informed that the vehicles were seized for overloading, transporting mineral without e-challans and even without GST bills which are mandatory as per the rules and guidelines of the Geology and Mining Department, the release said.
It said during seizure of dumpers, DMO asked the drivers and violators to transport raw or finished mineral only from permitted locations in Nallah, rivers, operational stone crushers and other mining places with valid documents and strict action shall be taken for any violation.
The handout said all the 11 seized vehicles along with minor mineral were handed over to concerned in charge of Police Post at Korepunu for further legal action and till the payment of penalty as per the extant rules of Department.
