Samba Police arrests 9 thieves, recovers stolen items worth Rs 5 lakh

160 thieves arrested, 80 cases solved: SSP

SAMBA, Dec 23: Samba police have achieved a major success by arresting nine thieves, solving four theft cases and recovering stolen items including Gold and Silver ornaments worth Rs five lakhs approximately.
The arrested thieves have been identified as Davinder Singh alias Deepu, son of Ashok Singh of Rakh Amb Talli district Samba, Hardeep Singh alias Kalu, son of Gian Singh of Samba, Arun Mehta son of Madan Lal of Rattnu Chak district Jammu, Shiv Ram son of Lal Chand of Billawar district Kathua, Rohit Bhatti son of Bobby Bhatti of Bari Brahmana, Reyaz Khan, son of Rasheed Khan of Bhagwati Nagar district Jammu, Rahul Kumar, son of Darshan Pal of Samba and two others.
Out of nine, four thieves have been arrested by police team of Police Station, (PS) Bari Brahmana, four have been arrested by Police team of PS Vijaypur, whereas one thief has been arrested by PS, Samba.
With these arrests of the hardcore thieves, police have cracked four theft cases including big jewellery theft case of Vijaypur which is second jewellery theft case solved by police within a week’s time said SSP Samba Benam Tosh while talking to reporters here, today.
Benam Tosh said that a total of 160 thieves have been arrested and 80 theft cases have been solved by Samba Police in past eleven months and stolen property worth lakhs of rupees including Gold/ Silver ornaments and cash has been recovered. One notorious thief has also been booked under PSA and process for booking other hardcore thieves under PSA has also been initiated by the police, he added.
