JAMMU, Dec 23: Panun Kashmir (PK) today asked GoI to recast its views about internal security in Jammu and Kashmir so that it is based on the factual situation on the ground as well as underground arenas.
Expressing serious concern over the gruesome terrorist attack in Poonch, PK chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo told reporters here today that it happened almost on the same day when the UT Government declared that J&K was poised as the major tourist destination in the country. The suicidal naivety of winning the war against terrorism entrenched deep and wide in the social arena by tourist campaigns has been once again on display, he added.
Dr Chrungoo said the latest Poonch attack has also shown that it was a successful terrorist ambush or entrapment operation.
The message underlying the mutilation of the martyred soldiers has to be understood. If the number of terrorists was smaller than the casualties suffered by the security personnel speaks volumes about both the intensity as well as militarisation of the terrorist operation. Who will understand the underlying message in a political atmosphere of self patting which we see almost daily, Dr Chrungoo said.
Paying heartfelt condolences to the braveheart Army personnel martyred who attained martyrdom in the Poonch terrorist attack on December 21, he said the sophisticated and highly militarised operations in J&K have happened at a time when Pan Islamic militarised activities are rearing its head globally.
“We are baffled why our best security personnel suddenly appear not properly equipped mentally as well as physically to meet the new challenges, he asked, Is it because the political authorities at the highest level are unrealistically over eager to declare victory over terrorism? Has normalcy delusion become a pathological political obsession”, he questioned.
Dr Chrungoo said to pretend normalcy requires not maintaining highest security alerts. Conversely highest security alerts and preparedness require abandoning the normalcy posture.
The assurances of the Union Home Minister recently that no arguments to save terrorism will be entertained will have meaning and impact only if GoI accepts publicly that the terrorism unleashed is driven by an ideology which the practitioners of terrorism openly declare to be emanating from their understanding of religion. So far GoI has responded to terrorism delinking it from its aetiology. Doesn’t such an approach essentially save terrorism
He said GoI also doesn’t recognise that terrorism in J&K is genocidal in its content and totalitarian in its approach and is just one arm of the bigger war form described by its practitioners as Jihad.
He said “We want GoI to apprise us how it perceives the threat to the lives of Hindus living in Kashmir and vulnerable areas of Jammu as well as the tourists in the light of the terrorist assaults in Jammu and Kashmir? Does not GoI understand the grim reality that if terrorists can attack military targets they can attack civilian soft targets with much more ease”.
Other PK leaders in the press conference were Kuldeep Raina its general secretary, Bihari Lal Koul organising secretary, P L Koul Budgami, Raj Nath Raina and Pran Koul.
