Provide 8 Assembly seats to POK DPs: SUF

JAMMU, Dec 24: Sikh United Front along with various Sikh organizations discussed various issues being faced by the Sikh community in the region.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sudershan Singh Wazir, chairman of Sikh United Front J&K. The participants showed their anguish over the discriminatory stance with the POK refugees 1947 by the Centre as well as Jammu Kashmir UT government.
Wazir said that time and again the POK refugee appealed the contemporary governments to give equal share to the Sikh community but the concerned governments always ignored the community. ” We again appeal the government to provide due share to the refugees of POK who suffered the atrocities during the partition of 1947 on communal basis,” he added.
He pointed out that migrants from Kashmir valley who shifted their homes within the country were provided two seats while the POK DPs having a vast population just one seat.
The Jammu and Kashmir Sikh United Front appealed for reservation of eight seats to represent the 25 lakhs refugees who left home and herth there in POK during attack by Pakistani raiders.
The Front sought intervention of PM Narender Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in the matter.
