Chhamb Displaced Persons Association calls on CS

JAMMU, Dec 25: To highlight the long pending demands of refugees, a delegation of Chhamb Displaced Persons Association called on Atal Dulloo, the Chief Secretary, J&K Union Territory here today.
The delegation was led by S.R. Nagial, President, Chhamb Displaced Persons Association in which other members of the association were also participated.
During their meeting, the members of association, highlighted their demands including for extending the period from 31 December 2023 to 31 January 2024 for verification and submission of the pending cases of beneficiaries of Chhamb Displaced Persons of 1965 and 1971 (Camp and Non-camp), the issue of cash payment compensation in lieu of land deficiency in favour of 463 DP families of 1971, the cash compensation in lieu of land deficiency is not paid to the said 463 DP families.
Grant of occupancy/tenancy rights over the evacuee land allotted to refugees under the provision of Section-3-A Agrarian Reforms Act-1976. Regarding Kisan Nidhi Yojna vide which the Govt. of India pays Rs.6000 per annum to farming families but in the case of Chhamb DPs of 1965 and 1971 who have been allotted evacuee land are not being paid the said amount because they have not been declared as owner of the land allotted to them.
State land allotted to Chhamb DPs of 1965 should be mutated in their favour as has been done in the case of Chhamb DPs of 1971 vide Govt. Order No.REV(LB)66 OF 2000 dated 26.04.2000.
Allotment of 20 Kanals of State land should be made in the name of this Association in Tehsil Vijaypur/Ramgarh for construction of community hall in the name of Chhamb Displaced Persons of 1965 & 1971.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary and all other senior officers listened the demands of the delegation carefully and assured that needful shall be done soon.
Among others who were the members of delegation included Ram Rattan, Ashok Kumar, Jung Bahadur, Joginder Paul Sharma, Daulat Ram and Sobha Ram.
