GURUGRAM, Dec 26: Former JMC Commissioner Kiran Wattal, was today honoured by the members of Kashmir Peace Lovers (KPL) for his outstanding contribution in the upliftment of the community members, and creating social & cultural awakening among them.
The award was given to him by Haryana Education Minister Mool Chand Sharma in the presence of a galaxy of educationists and intellectuals.
Wattal is associated with several social and cultural organisations, has been awarded in a function held here today.
Earlier, he had received the prestigious Bharat Shreshtha Puraskar from Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya in a function held at Guruhram, is presently the vice-president of Gymnastics Federation of India.
He is also vice-chairman of Tourist Federation, Jammu, and convenor of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj.
In 1977-78, he had received National Medal in Weightlifting & Body Building championship.
In a career spanning over 39 years in government service, he had received accolades for his dedication & transformative work at various levels, particularly as commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
After his retirement from government service, he had served as an advisor to the vice-chancellor of Central University of Jammu.
