Stop politicizing terror acts: Brig Anil Gupta

JAMMU, Dec 26: The recent terror incident at Dera Ki Gali (DKG) area near Bufliaz in Surankot tehsil of the Poonch district in which four brave hearts of 48 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) attained martyrdom has sent shockwaves across the country.
The nation is distressed due to the horrific acts of the terrorists as well as loss of lives of three civilians reportedly killed in custody. This area has witnessed a spike in terror incidents since the last year.
In a press release issued today, Brig Anil Gupta, spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appealed to the opposition leaders to stop politicizing the terror act and help restore peace in the restive region. BJP condemns custodial killings and urged the Muftis and Abdullahs to wait for the report of the inquiry since the Army authorities have also assured full cooperation including a free and fair enquiry.
He said there is no denying the fact that the terrorists cannot survive in this area without local support particularly the foreign terrorists. The involvement of a few locals cannot be ruled out, he added. “Rather than kindling the fire, these leaders must help in extinguishing the fire”, urged Brig Gupta.
He said in the era of 370 CMs and Home Ministers (mostly the CM) enjoyed limitless powers. They provided latent support to anti-national elements and radicals for their survival. Now there is no official support to terrorism/radicalisation, claimed Brig Gupta. But the ecosystem created by them in which radicalization and terrorism were used to further their political agenda continues to plague the environment even today. It is so deep rooted that it will not be eliminated so easily and will take time, he added.
He said till then terror incidents will continue to happen off and on. The Gupkar Alliance leaders will continue to use such incidents as political tools to question the Government and boast of terrorism continuing even in post-370 environment but will never condemn terrorism or its sponsor Pakistan,” added the spokesperson.
“On the contrary they bat for talks with the country that is responsible for exporting religious terrorism into Jammu & Kashmir acknowledged by none other than the ex-dictator of Pakistan, Gen Pervez Musharraf,” rued Brig Gupta.
It is very unfortunate that rather than cooperating with the Government and security agencies in investigation, they are indulging in political opportunism and trying to create disturbances and disharmony, he said.
