JAMMU, Dec 28: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) today castigated the move of Government for increasing the toll rates at Nashri-Mada toll plaza for all vehicles and termed the move as anti people.
In a joint statement, the Party senior leaders G M Saroori, R S Chib, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Arvinder Singh Micky and Salman Nizami said that the move has come as a shock for all of them since the fee has been hiked to double. They said it is impossible for most of the people to afford this huge amount while traveling on this road.
Chief spokesperson of the Party, Salman Nizami, said that the people of J&K need a healing touch and support from Centre since the Union Territory has the highest number of unemployed youth. He said the local businesses also have little opportunities to grow and amid such situations levying such huge taxes from the common people is unjustified.
DPAP leaders urged the Government to reconsider its decision and treat the people of J&K as par with people from other states. “Our people too deserve concessions and support from Government like BJP does in other states it rules. There can’t be a different yardstick for the people of J&K,” Nizami said.
