JAMMU, Dec 28: People across the country are eagerly waiting for the 2024 general elections as they have made up their mind to vote and return BJP to power again for third consecutive term with the thumping majority said Vibodh Gupta, BJP JK UT general secretary and former MLC, while addressing a large gathering of people belonging to the OBC community during ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojna Awareness and Registration Camp, organized in Ward 17, near Dental College, here today along with Sunil Prajapati, president, BJP OBC Morcha.
Vibodh Gupta said that during the last ten years, the BJP Government under PM, Narendra Modi, has launched dozens of welfare schemes for the socio-economic upliftment of the poor and weaker sections and people from different categories have availed the benefits of the same.
Vibodh Gupta said that continuing with the commitment to take care of every class in the society, this Government has now launched ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojna, which is a mega scheme meant to promote livelihood opportunities for the people of Other Backward Classes and other sections engaged in traditional skills. Eighteen traditional trades will be covered in the first instance under the scheme, which include Carpenter, Boat Maker, Armourer, Blacksmith, Hammer and Tool Kit Maker, Locksmith , Goldsmith, Potter, Sculptor, Stone carver, Stone breaker, Cobbler, shoe maker, footwear artisan, Mason), Basket/Mat/Broom maker, coir weaver, doll and toy maker.
He further said that the scheme aims to strengthen and nurture the Guru Shishya Parampara or family based practice of traditional skills by artisans and crafts people working with their hands and traditional tools.
Sunil Prajapati, while speaking in the camp, said that the artisans and crafts people will be provided recognition certificate and ID Card. They will also get credit support up to Rs one lakh (first tranche) and Rs two lakh (second tranche) with a concession in interest rate of 5%.. The Scheme will further provide Skill upgradation, Toolkit Incentive, incentive for digital transactions and marketing support.
