Truck driver dies during naka checking

UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: A truck driver died under mysterious circumstances during checking at Jakhani Naka, under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station.
According to the police report, one truck bearing registration number JK02BP-9375, which on its way from Srinagar to Mumbai, was stopped for checking at Jakhani Naka in the wee hours, around 5.30 am.
After checking was over and the driver of the truck was leaving the spot, he suddenly complained of restless feel following which police official on duty informed Highway patrol. Incharge Highway patrol shifted the driver to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The deceased was identified as Trilochan Singh (40), son of Kulwant Singh, resident of Flaya Mandal Jammu.
After this incident, members of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Udhampur and transporters assembled in front of the District Hospital Udhampur and alleged that the truck driver was assaulted by the Jakhani naka checking Police members as there were injury marks on his nose and ears. They demanded that justice should be done to this poor driver and the culprits should be punished.
After getting the information about this, Add SP Udhampur, Anwar Ul Haq and SHO Udhampur Raghuvir Singh rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. They assured fair investigation.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC started further investigation into the case.
