23 more terrorists from Kishtwar declared as proclaimed offenders

Process to attach assets to start after a month

JAMMU, Jan 1: A court today declared 23 terrorists from Kishtwar district, who are operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) as proclaimed offenders and process to attach their properties will be set in motion if they don’t surrender before the court within 30 days.

With this, total number of Kishtwar terrorists operating from Pakistan and PoJK who have been declared as proclaimed offenders, has gone up to 36.
Among 23, properties of 12 have been identified but the attachment process would begin after expiry of 30 days deadline set by the court if they don’t surrender by then.
Out of 13 terrorists declared offenders previously, properties of seven have been identified for attachment.
Responding to a question at a press conference in Kishtwar town, SSP Kishtwar Khalil Poswal said there has been no contact with him by any of the terrorists for surrender. A reporter asked him there were reports that some of the terrorists want to surrender.
Poswal said families of the terrorists will be informed by police teams that if their kin don’t surrender, their properties will be attached.
Investigations of the case are being conducted by a special police team headed by DySP Vishal Sharma under the supervision of the SSP Kishtwar.
Earlier in the day, the Special Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) court in Doda declared 23 terrorists as proclaimed offenders and gave 30 days time to appear before it in connection with cases registered against them, failing which their properties will be attached.
“In a significant move to address security challenges within the district, 23 terrorists from Kishtwar operating from Pakistan and PoJK have been declared proclaimed offenders by the UAPA special court in Doda,” the officials said.
There are 36 terrorists from Kishtwar who are operating from Pakistan and PoJK. Two FIRs have been registered against them.
“The diligent efforts of Kishtwar police, resulted into crucial intelligence after which two FIRs were registered against these terrorists before meticulously presenting all information before the court,” the officials said.
The court has given these terrorists a month to appear before it,” the officials said.
They added that Kishtwar police is committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and security of the district.
“We are working closely with law enforcement agencies to follow the due process and bring these individuals to justice,” the officials said.
Thirty six terrorists of Kishtwar declared as proclaimed offenders are Manzoor Ahmed alias Tahir Inqlabi, Manzoor Ahmed, Ghulam Mohammad, Nazir Ahmed alias Shaheen, Shabir Ahmed alias Junaid, Mohd Iqbal Reshi, Mohd Amin Bhat, Jamal Din Naik alias Mudasir, Shabir Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed Raina alias Showqat, Gulzar Ahmed alias Javed, Ghulam Hussain Sheikh, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed Chopan, Mohd Shafi alias Amjad, Ghulam Nabi Wani alias Majid, Abdul Karim, Gulabu, Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohd Irfan Khandey. Mohd Rafiq Khandey, Farooq Ahmed Ganie, Mohd Hanief Sheikh, Shah Nawaz Kanth, Nayeem Ahmed, Mohd Iqbal, Shahnawaz, Javid Hussain Giri, Bashir Ahmed Mughal, Gazi-ud-Din, Sattar Din, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, Mohd Rafiq Khan, Muzaffer Ahmed and Azad Hussain.
