JAMMU, Jan 2: As a run up to upcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held in April-May this year, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president, J P Nadda is paying a one day visit to Jammu on January 7.
According to sources, Nadda is visiting one State of North India and two Union Territories to take the stock of preparedness for Lok Sabha elections and implementation of various schemes launched by Narendra Modi Government for welfare of public.
Sources said as BJP is eyeing 400+ seats in Lok Sabha elections this time with over 51 percent vote share in every State and Union Territory to bounce back to power at Centre for third consecutive term is making ground level preparations for the same.
Sources said, Nadda will hold day -long meeting with senior party functionaries, Core Group members, office bearers, Prabharis and district presidents as well as Morcha heads and their Prabharis. He will chalk out the strategy for launching a vigorous campaign in the UT to ensure party’s victory in more than two Parliamentary seats in J&K out of total five Lok Sabha seats.
Sources said besides, two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu region the party is seriously eyeing to increase its tally in the UT by targeting Anantnag- Poonch Lok Sabha seat this time. Sources said during the meeting Nadda will discuss all probabilities and poll strategy with UT leadership. He will also seek complete feedback from party leadership of the UT on the poll preparedness as well as stress on concentrating on those areas where the party could not farewell during last Lok Sabha elections, sources added.
Sources said stress will also be made on contacting the young and first time voters by the party in the UT and apprising them of the flagship programmes launched by the Modi Government for making India Vishaw Guru and for welfare of people in general and youth in particular. Nadda will also seek complete report card from senior leadership of the UT on party’s activities and progress made in taking the Government schemes to door steps of people and acquainting more and more people especially youth with policies and programmes of party and Modi Government which has dedicated itself to Saba Ka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas.
Sources said as there is constant pressure from opposition as well as recent court directives of holding elections in the UT, Nadda will also discuss with UT leadership of the party the probability of holding early Panchayat and Municipal elections.
Sources said Nadda will further discuss with J&K BJP leadership the progress of Viksit Bharat Sankalap Yatra, the villages and towns covered by it so far, registration of new beneficiaries and feedback sought from those who have taken benefits of various Modi Government schemes in the UT. The party leadership will be asked to intensify its booth Jan Samvad Abhiyan and further strengthening the party at booth level keeping in view that the victory of booth is victory at hustings.
Sources said that BJP in this election is working on the formula to seek votes from each and every section of the people on the basis of its schemes launched for welfare of women by granting 33 percent political reservation to them, Gujjars and Bakerwals, OBCs and other marginalized sections of society for whom many flagship schemes were launched by the party besides, refugees both from West Pakistan, PoJK and Kashmiri migrants.
Sources said party is on a strong wicket so far as its performance in the UT of J&K is concerned after the annulling of controversial Article 370 on development front as well as taking the historical decisions like grant of citizenship rights to West Pak refugees, Balmikis, providing relief to PoJK refugees who were neglected constantly by previous Governments.
Sources said Nadda will be on three days visit of Northern India and before visiting Jammu on January 7, he will visit his home State Himachal Pradesh on January 5 and next day he will visit UT of Chandigarh and discuss the poll strategy with the leadership there too.
Sources said Nadda will be accompanied by national general secretary and prabahri J&K and Ladakah UTs Tarun Chugh and co incharge J&K Ashish Sood. The meeting will also be attended by Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh and party national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh.
