SRINAGAR, Jan 4: Churunda village, situated on the Line of Control in the Uri area of Baramulla district, is grappling with severe challenges due to inadequate road connectivity.
Residents raised their concerns about the dilapidated condition of the road leading to the border village, causing immense hardships for daily commuters. “The Government is making huge claims, but the road has not been properly developed. In the upcoming winter months, the road should be open as we have to carry patients on shoulders or carts to the hospitals in Uri,” Lal Hassan Kohli, a resident, said.
Highlighting the critical situation, locals emphasised the impact of heavy snowfall on the area, affecting the connectivity and posing significant risks, especially for expectant mothers. “It could prove fatal for the patients. Proper road connectivity is a must for the region,” a local said.
Locals said the lack of road connectivity not only hampers their daily lives but also affects the army’s rescue operations in the region. “We are living here only because of the army, and without them, we cannot survive. Even for them to carry out rescue operations here, a proper road is required,” the locals said.
