RAMBAN, Jan 6: A large number of angry people took out a protest rally and blocked the old alignment of Jammu Srinagar National Highway at T-Chowk, here today to express resentment against the desecration of a religious place.
The religious place dedicated to Baba Bansul Devta was located at Chabba, Demote in Ramban.
As the news of desecration spread, a large number of people assembled at old town Ramban and took out a protest march and later on they also blocked the old alignment of National Highway at T-Chowk area.
People of Chabba, Demote and adjoining villages assembled at the site of religious place and staged a protest demonstration.
They were demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the desecration of 100 years old religious place.
The protesters said that three such incidents at three different locations were reported in the past one year but police has failed to arrest the miscreants.
Later on Additional SP Ramban, Gurav Mahajan and Tehsildar Ramban assured the people that strict action will be taken against the miscreants involved in desecration of religious place.
Police has lodged an FIR with number 10 of 2024 under 295-A at Police Station Ramban and started investigations.
