UDHAMPUR, Jan 7: Jammu Kashmir Teachers/Masters Association held a meeting, here today under the chairmanship of State president Rakesh Singh and State General Secretary Vivek Gupta and hoped that long pending issues of Teacher fraternity will be resolved in the tenure of new Administrative Secretary School Education Department.
While interacting with media after the meeting, Singh made a strong appeal to Dr Piyush Singla to take strict measures to end the menace of fake and invalid degrees in the Education Department as it has been seen that Teachers/Masters having distance mode degrees in Science stream were promoted as Lecturer by DPC sidelining the regular degree holders despite the fact that High Court has considered these distance degrees not valid.
Singh suggested that in order to curb the menace of fake degrees in the department, there is need to fix criteria of seniority as date of passing the B Ed degrees in case of Master grade and date of passing Post Graduate degree in case of Lecturer as mere date of joining cannot be claimed for early promotion.
Singh also urged the Administrative Secretary of School Education to relieve all the Teachers from work of BLOs and replace the same with the non-teaching officials of Education Department and others department like Agriculture, Forest and Social Welfare.
Singh also made a strong appeal to Lieutenant Governor J&K to enhance the salary of Teachers at par with the other UTs in order to attract the best human resources in the Education Department and also to make the B Ed compulsory educational qualification for recruitment of teachers so that only deserving candidates become the Teachers.
Association also appealed the Administrative Secretary to issue DPC lists of Masters by 100 percent quota on one time basis as per State Administrative Council (SAC) decision in order to create more vacant posts of GLT to adjust Grade -II & Grade-III Teachers who are working on supernumerary post’s.
Others demand raised by the association included creation of Teachers Welfare Fund, sanction of posts for hanging schools, rural allowance for GLT working in Zone III & IV schools, framing separate seniority list of GLT &ReT Teachers due to their different mode of recruitment and different nomenclature.
