JAMMU, Jan 8: A programme to discuss the participation of ‘Women in J&K Politics’ was organised at Sai Shyam College of Education (SSCE) was held here today.
The programme was organised in Collaboration with Stree Shakti -The Parallel Force to discuss Women in J&K Politics “From Panchayat to Parliament”.
Dr. Sanjogita Soodan was the Chief Guest and K. K. Khosa was the Guest of Honour, lighted the traditional lamp in the presence of C. L. Tickoo Chairman of the College and other Dignitaries.
The Chief Guest Dr. Sanjogita Soodan, Sports Medicine Specialist, while addressing the gathering shared her experiences of women participation in all walks of life including sports and appreciated the efforts of the college and STREE SHAKTI for conducting such women oriented programmes.
She opined that it is the need of the hour that more and more women should participate in political affairs.
The Guest of Honour, K. K. Khosa, President Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, Jammu emphasised that women should come forward cutting across their party lines for the Nation building.
He thanked the present Govt. for offering this historical opportunity of granting 33% reservation for women.
Dr. Usha Tickoo, Principal of the College, Welcomed the Dignitaries present on the occasion and apprised them of the significance of the theme of the programme.
Vandana Kumari, Sarpanch Flora Nagbani, Jammu, shared her experience of working as a successful Sarpanch and serving the people of her area and said that women should come forward and lead the society .
Among others who were present during the event included Rajinder Singh Chib, Pradeep Dutta and Dr. S. K. Jain.
The dignitaries were presented with Mementoes as token of remembrance.
