53 bovines rescued, smugglers arrested

JAMMU, Jan 8: Police foiled several attempts of bovine smuggling in Udhampur and Reasi districts and rescued 53 bovines besides arresting the accused smugglers.
Udhampur Police rescued 48 bovines and seized three vehicles used for bovine smuggling. Team of Police Station Majalta foiled two bovine smuggling bids in which 37 bovines were rescued and two vehicles, Truck and Container bearing registration number JK03G-4627 and HR38S -5282 were seized from Battal Naka Point.
Driver of both the vehicles, identified as Amar Dev, son of Sanjeev Dev of Assam and Zakir Hussain, son of Mohd Iqbal of Mira Sahib, Jammu, were arrested. Two case FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered in this connection in Police Station Majalta.
One more bovine smuggling bid was foiled at Tikri and 11 bovines were rescued. These bovines were being smuggled in a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AH-9585, which was intercepted and seized. However, driver of the vehicle managed to escape. Case FIR has been registered in this connection at Police Station Rehambal.
Reasi Police rescued five bovines besides arresting the accused smugglers.
During Naka checking at Dera Baba, two vehicles bearing registration number . JK02CS-9920 and JK20B-3706 were intercepted. Three bovines were loaded in these two vehicles, without valid permission.
Police rescued the bovines and arrested both the drivers and their accomplice , identified as Rafaqit Ali son of Mohd Shafi of Chapped , Tehsil Dansal, Manzoor Hussain, son of Taj Din of Keri Parthal, Tehsil Katra and Mohd Zabir son of Abdul Husain of Thuroo.
In another case, Police team of Pouni rescued two bovine animals which were allegedly being smuggled by Balvinder Kumar son of Madan Lal of Kathar, Akhnoor, who was carrying the animals by foot from Jammu District to Rajouri via Pouni. In this regard, case FIR has been registered at P/S Pouni and the accused was arrested.
