Panels constituted for execution of Swachhata Green Leaf Rating System

JAMMU, Jan 11: Government today accorded sanction to the constitution of Union Territory, District, and Sub-Divisional Level Committees in Jammu and Kashmir for the execution of the Swachhata Green Leaf Rating System for hospitality facilities such as resorts, hotels, homestays, and other places of tourist stay in the country.
As per an order, the Union Territory level committee shall be headed by the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir with Administrative Secretary of Tourism Department, Administrative Secretary, incharge Rural Sanitation as members, MD, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) Convenor as Convenor, and Director, Tourism as Member Secretary of the committee.
The order said that the committee shall meet every quarter to review the work of District Level Committees and extend an advisory role to the District Committees.
The committee shall be free to include any member, temporary or permanent, depending on their utility to the committee, the order said.
“The committee can also co-opt representatives from various UT level associations like Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association, Hotel Association, Indian Heritage Hotel Association, Travel Agents Association, and Association of Tour Operators,” said the order.
Further, the District level committees shall be headed by the Deputy Commissioners as their chairpersons, ADDCs, District representatives from Department of Tourism, District Coordinators, SBM (Gramin), and representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions as members and Additional Commissioners, Panchayat as Member Secretary.
These committees shall meet every month to discuss the submissions received and forward the submissions to the verification of sub-committees.
Meanwhile, the Verification Sub-Committees shall be formed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs). These committees may designate a team with appropriate representation from various key stakeholders such as Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and other Government departments.
The Verification Sub-Committees shall inspect the current certification status submitted by tourist entity and submit a report to the SDM who shall send it with comments to the District Committee for final rating, said the order.
